NEWS:
05/02/2010 - CD Review @ The Silent Ballet!
We're very excited to see our CD has been reviewed by the Silent Ballet!
20/11/2009 - Debut album “Eye” out now!
We have just released our debut album! It’s called ‘Eye’ and consists of 9 tracks we constructed out of a long series of freakout jams. We recorded everything in one day to capture that live buzz at Crescendo Studios in Genk, Belgium. Everything was mixed and mastered by soundsmith Wouter Elen. The logo and artwork are created by artist and friend Norah Dantchev.
We tried to create something with enough content and concept so that it would be an enjoyable listen. Our goal was to use ideas and melodies we jammed up that felt dear to us and then squeeze in a lot of sudden dynamic atmosphere changes so that we could cover a lot of different emotions and styles of music. Even so, the non-vocal approach and spacey guitars means a lot of post-rock vibes.
All in all, have fun with our debut release and leave a comment or send an email telling us what you think! We love getting positive feedback, it’s what keeps us going! Mescaliner over and out!
You can purchase our digipack cd at live shows for 7.50 euro, or order it now and have it shipped to you for only 10 euro!
It will take about 4-9 days for a within European union shipment and 1-2 weeks for shipment outside the European union. -

BIOGRAPHY:
In an environment dominated by packaged prefabs and a conformed loss of character, where everything is organized and categorized with neat labels and even a large array of personalities and images can be picked out and lived up to, it is hard to carve your own niche when you do not feel comfortable planning out your life as it should be and living up to expectations by people who do.
It is even harder to find likeminds who share a desire to just 'create' and let the outcome speak for itself. For Mescaliner, a coincidental meeting resulted in the formation of a group of such likeminds. The initial period of Mescaliner's existence was spent simply -playing-; long, stretched out jams with varying themes created an experience that was exactly what the band sought -- to be able to express themselves musically without constraints. There was no pressure to create something new and innovating, and no desire to be different or superior. This would only end up in a circular process of superstition and self-confirmation that the band did not advocate. The sound was simply an extension of their emotional states, a way to let go of emotions.
After long sessions of jamming together and recording most of these jamsessions, the band possessed an enormous database of sound. They realized they could turn these jamsessions into concise, dynamic tracks and still leave spots open for jamming within a track (in a semi-constructed way). This lead to the development of the tracks that are found on their debut release ('Eye', 2009). Since the music does not begin with a preconceived notion of how it is supposed to sound, they developed a sound that is characterized by dynamic jumps that can go from mellow, beautiful pieces to strong, harsh parts, all in the same track, while still sounding concise as a whole. Furthermore, they have a penchant for spacey, epic riffs.
These days, Mescaliner is working hard on releasing more material, and increasing their number of performances. -
